BREAKING: First Batch Of Six A-29 Super Tucano Aircraft Leaves US For Nigeria

Six of the 12 Super Tucano fighter aircraft earlier ordered by the Nigerian government have departed the United States of America en route the country.The aircraft which left on Wednesday are the product of a $329million Foreign Military Sales contract to SNC by the United States government to build 12 A-29s for the Nigerian Air Force in November 2018.Sahara Reporters MediaIn a statement on Wednesday, NAF spokesman, Air Commodore Edward Gabwet said the aircraft will be leapfrogged through five countries including Canada, Iceland, Spain and Algeria before arriving Nigeria towards the end of July 2021.The statement partly reads, 'The first batch of 6 A-29 Super Tucano aircraft departed the United States of America on Wednesday, 14 July 2021 enroute Nigeria. The 6 aircraft will be leapfrogged through 5 countries including Canada, Greenland, Iceland, Spain and Algeria before arriving at their final destination in Nigeria towards the end of July 2021.'An official induction ceremony of the aircraft into the inventory of the Nigerian Air Force is already being planned at a later date in August 2021 to be announced in due course.
