For example, a one-way economy award flight from New York-JFK to Madrid using the Iberia Plus program starts as low as 17,000 Avios plus about $89 in taxes and fees. The same flight booked through British Airways Executive Club costs 20,750 Avios and $233 in taxes and fees.

Read more: How to earn, redeem, and maximize British Airways Avios points

As long as there are no website technical issues, transferring Avios between your Aer Lingus, British Airways, and Iberia accounts is a simple tasks that requires just a few clicks. The process is similar for transfers to or from each of the three airline programs.

Aer Lingus

Rather than using the Aer Lingus AerClub website, it's easier to transfer Avios to or from your Aer Club account by logging into Avios.com. You can do this by entering your 16-digit AerClub membership number and password. If you're not sure of your membership number, you can find it on your Aer Club overview page.

Once logged in, click on "Manage my account" followed by "Combine my Avios" where you should reach a page that looks like this:

Then you just select the account you'd like to transfer Avios toeither British Airways or Iberia Plus.

You'll then have the option to choose whether you want to transfer from your Avios (Aer Lingus) account to your British Airways Executive Club account or vice versa. Your desired Avios amount will be transferred almost immediately and you'll receive a confirmation email from Avios with a reference number of the transfer.

British Airways

For transfers to or from your British Airways Executive Club account, log in to Executive Club. Head to the "Manage My Account" drop-down menu and select "Combine my Avios"

You'll need to hit "Combine my Avios" again on the next screen.

The next page is similar to that Aer Lingus transfer page where you'll be asked to either select Avios Partners (Aer Lingus) or Iberia Plus as your preferred transfer program. Once you've entered the details of your preferred account, enter the amount of Avios that you wish to transfer and hit "review my transfer".

You'll then be asked to confirm the transfer which will then be made almost in an instant. You'll also receive a confirmation email confirming the transfer.

Iberia

First, you'll need to log in to your Iberia Plus account. Click the "Combine my Avios" button on the Iberia Plus homepage.

The next step, just like with Aer Lingus and British Airways, will be to select from the drop-down menu which airline's program you'd like to transfer to.

Once you've entered the relevant login details for your preferred account, you'll be able to enter the number of Avios you'd like to transfer before hitting "review my transfer".

Finally, you'll be asked to "confirm transfer" before being sent a confirmation email.

How to earn more Avios

The easiest way to earn Avios directly is by opening the <bi-inline-shortcode id="commerce-link" contenteditable="false" data-fields="name" data-customtext="" data-shouldlink="true" data-pid="5e742724c485402a65114fe2">British Airways Visa Signature Card</bi-inline-shortcode>, <bi-inline-shortcode id="commerce-link" contenteditable="false" data-fields="name" data-customtext="" data-shouldlink="true" data-pid="601ad53488948700119fddc2">Iberia Visa Signature Card</bi-inline-shortcode>, or <bi-inline-shortcode id="commerce-link" contenteditable="false" data-fields="name" data-customtext="" data-shouldlink="true" data-pid="601ad5cf88948700119fddc6">Aer Lingus Visa Signature Card</bi-inline-shortcode>.
