Arsenal Transfer News: Rumours on Jose Luis Gaya, Mario Mandzukic, More

Published by Bleacher Report on Sat, 28 Feb 2015

Valencia released a strong message regarding the availability of talented youngster Jose Luis Gaya, dismissing rumours the reported Arsenal target could be leaving the club on a transfer at the end of the season. As reported by Metro's Lewis Rudd, club President Amadeo Salvo released a powerful statement about the 19-year-old defender, whom he wishes to keep at the club for years to come:Valencia fight for their rights as it has always done. The player is not for sale and we will not negotiate. There is no price for it.His intention is to stay and he will continue with us.The highly touted full-back currently has a release clause of just 13 million, per Rudd, but as shared by AS' Zarif Rasul, that's about to change:The teenager has quickly established himself as one of La Liga's best young defenders in the 2014-15 campaign, playing a vital role in Valencia's push for a top-four finish. He has all of the physical tools to be a modern full-back, using his excellent athleticism to contribute in the attacking third on a regular basis. Per The National Sport, he's drawing plenty of comparisons to Barcelona's Jordi Alba, and he has the potential to unseat the former Valencia man as Spain's starter in the next few years:Real Madrid have been linked with a move for the youngster for some time now, via Rudd, but due to the presence of Brazil international Marcelo, it's doubtful Gaya would be open to a move to the Spanish capital at this stage of his career. In fact, any transfer at the end of this campaign seems doubtful. Gaya only became the regular starter in 2014 and could do with some seasoning, and he's currently in the perfect situation to grow and continue his development. The young full-back would be an excellent addition to Arsene Wenger's squad, but unless the Gunners are willing to make his current club an offer they simply can't refuse, expect Gaya to stay put for the foreseeable future.According to the Daily Star's Jonathan Green, Arsenal could take advantage of Atletico Madrid's reported interest in Paris Saint-Germain's Edinson Cavani to bring in forwards Mario Mandzukic and Arda Turan. He claims manager Diego Simeone is desperate to acquire the Uruguay international and would be willing to part with his two attackers to fund a move:Cavani looks set to be at the heart of a massive transfer battle this summer with Starsport revealing earlier this month that Manchester United had made him a prime target while Juventus are also interested. It is likely to take a bid in excess of 45m to prise the 28-year-old away from the Parc des Princes. And Spanish reports claim Atletico are willing to sell Mandzukic and Turan to make a move possible.Mandzukic has impressed since arriving from Bayern Munich last summer but Diego Simeone is reportedly happy for the forward to leave following Fernando Torres' arrival last month. The rumour seems a bit wild, to put it mildly, and it's difficult to see why Simeone would move two of his favourite players just to bring in Cavani, who looks likely to leave Paris for any of the big-money clubs reportedly interested.Turan remains one of the most underrated players in La Liga, combining excellent vision with a blue-collar approach to the game. Whitehouse Address is a big fan: Mandzukic brings the same tools to the table and, via AS English, he also adds plenty of goals:Both are the type of hard-working players Simeone loves to build his team around, something Cavani is not. The Uruguayan is a fantastic player but not a particularly good fit for Simeone's system, which requires every member of the team to track back throughout the match.Atletico could very well be tempted to sell one of Mandzukic or Turan in the summer in order to comply with UEFA's financial fair play regulations, but it's difficult to see how Cavani would fit into Simeone's plans.Follow @ReverschPassRead more World Football news on BleacherReport.com
