Adrian Peterson Thanks Minnesota Vikings, Fans on Twitter

New Orleans Saints running back Adrian Peterson posted a message on social media Friday night thanking Minnesota Vikings fans for their support during his decade with the organization.Peterson said he appreciated "all the love and support and the prayers throughout the years":The 32-year-old playmaker was the seventh overall pick of the Vikings in the 2007 NFL draft. He was named the league's Most Valuable Player and Offensive Player of the Year in 2012 when he rushed for 2,097 yards, the second-highest total in history.In all, he racked up 11,747 rushing yards and 1,945 receiving yards with 102 total touchdowns across 123 games in Minnesota. He also earned seven Pro Bowl selections and four First Team All-Pro nods during his time wearing the purple and gold.Peterson signed atwo-year, $7 million contractwith the Saints last month. The move came after the Vikings opted to decline an option in his career for the 2017 season.He's expected to split time with Mark Ingram in the New Orleans backfield, which should give the team a rushing attack capable of keeping pace with its high-powered passing game.Looking ahead, it won't take long for Peterson to head back to Minnesota. The Saints and Vikings are scheduled to face off in Week 1 as part of the annual doubleheader on Monday night.The running back jokingly told the Saints'official website(h/tBen Goesslingof ESPN.com)he'd be out for "revenge" in that contest."It's going to be fun to go against those guys so I can let them know [when] I was doing that talking, telling them, 'Hey, I'll hit you guys for 150 or 200 yards,' that I wasn't just talking," Peterson said. Along with the familiar surroundings in Minnesota, the Vikings owned the league's 20th-ranked run defense last year.
