Former Penn State Officials Gary Schultz, Tim Curley Begin Prison Sentences

Former Penn State vice president Gary Schultz and athletic director Tim Curley turned themselves in to police Saturday to begin serving their prison sentences stemming from a 2001 complaint against disgraced Nittany Lions assistant coach Jerry Sandusky.According to the Associated Press (via ESPN.com), the two started their prison terms "for how they responded to a 2001 complaint about Jerry Sandusky showering with a boy."Schultz is scheduled to serve two months, while Curley will spend three months in prison.In March, Curly and Schultzpleaded guiltyto misdemeanor child endangerment charges after prosecutors dropped felony conspiracy charges against them.Former Penn State president Graham B. Spanier was alsopreviously sentencedto a short jail term on a misdemeanor count of endangering a child.According to the AP, Spanier is still free on bail while he appeals the ruling. He has also been placed on administrative leave by Penn State, although he is considered a tenured member of the university's faculty.
