Asuka to Make Main Roster Debut on WWE Raw

As expected, The Empress of Tomorrow has made the jump to WWE's flagship show. WWE aired a vignette hyping up Asuka's impending arrival on Raw during Monday's edition of the program.Asuka remains out of action while recovering from a broken collarbone she suffered in her victory over Ember Moon at NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn III in August.Fans anticipated Asuka's main roster debut after she surrendered the NXT Women's Championship on the Sept. 6 edition of NXT, ending her title reign of over 500 days.Making Asuka a star on Raw should be a slam dunk, but from a creative perspective, it's hard not to feel somewhat underwhelmed with how a number of top female NXT stars have made the transition to the main roster.In a time where seemingly every wrestlerheel or facecreates diverse reactions from WWE fans, Bayley was a universally beloved babyface in NXT. However, WWE has done such a poor job of helping her connect to the crowd during her time on the main roster that she was booed when announcing she would be out with an injury.Sasha Banks' entire dynamic, meanwhile, is that she's unable to defend a championship. Banks is a four-time Raw women's champion, and she has held the title for a combined 84 days, according to WWE.com.Both Alexa Bliss and Nia Jax have been excellent on Raw after making a relatively brief stop in NXT, and they'll be the blueprint for Asuka to follow when she makes her long-awaited debut.Fitting Asuka into an already-crowded Raw women's division may be difficult, though. Not only will Bayley return at some point, Paige is still working to get back into the ring as well. Executing another Superstar Shake-up to balance out the Raw and SmackDown Live women's divisions may be a good idea in the near future.
