Malnutrition remains one of the most pressing challenges facing Nigeria today. The country has the second-highest number of stunted children under the age of five in the world. For many families, access to proper nutrition and healthcare remains out of reach and that’s where collective action can make a difference.

At Cardgoal, we’ve always believed that our mission goes beyond building a leading gift card trading app. Our platform is built by Nigerians, for Nigerians and we’re committed to finding meaningful ways to give back to our communities. That’s why we’ve partnered with the Health Emergency Initiative (HEI), a non-profit organization dedicated to saving lives and improving public health in Nigeria to launch "Gift Health".

What is the Gift Health Program?

Our partnership with HEI is a hands-on initiative aimed at reducing acute malnutrition among children in Lagos State. This campaign focuses on lifesaving nutrition support and education for caregivers in low-income communities. The Gift Health initiative involves several key activities designed to address both immediate nutritional needs and long-term health education.

1. Child Mobilization and Screening

Identifying children at risk of malnutrition in target communities.
Conducting MUAC (Mid-Upper Arm Circumference) and weight-for-height checks.

2. Distribution of RUTF (Ready-to-Use Therapeutic Food)

Providing lifesaving therapeutic foods for children diagnosed with severe acute malnutrition.
Regular follow-up visits to track recovery and progress.

3. Caregiver Training and Nutrition Counseling

Empowering mothers and caregivers with practical knowledge of proper feeding, hygiene, and early health detection.
Promoting exclusive breastfeeding for infants under six months.

4. Monitoring and Referral

Tracking all beneficiaries and referring severe cases to designated Primary Health Care Centers for advanced treatment.

Why We Chose Health as Our Focus?

When the Cardgoal team began exploring potential CSR initiatives, we wanted something that created real, measurable change in people’s lives. While education, empowerment, and digital inclusion remain important to us, we recognize that good health is the foundation for everything else, especially for children.

During a visit to one of HEI’s community health outreaches, our team witnessed firsthand how something as simple as nutritional support could transform a child’s life. That moment inspired this partnership.

We realized that just as Cardgoal connects users to financial opportunities, we could also help connect resources to those who need them most.

Who Will Benefit from Gift Health Initiative?

The primary beneficiaries of this initiative include:

Building Healthier Communities, Together

At Cardgoal, we believe real progress happens when businesses and communities grow together. Through this partnership with HEI, we’re building a sustainable model of community-driven health improvement.

Over the next few months, we’ll be sharing stories, photos, and updates from our on-ground teams in Lagos as the project unfolds. You’ll get to see how your gift card trades on Cardgoal are helping real children, real families, and real communities. Malnutrition may be a national challenge, but together, we can change the story for hundreds of children.
