Last week, I taught on the benefits of the prosperity covenant. This week, I will show you the opposition to your heritage of supernatural prosperity.Your heritage of supernatural prosperity is being contested by the opposition. There are families where no one rises. The enemy is out to make them remain in stagnation. Whenever Satan is mentioned, people think of power. You don't have a power problem with the devil because all power belongs to God (Psalm 62:11). God's Word says: Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you (Luke 10:19). From this scripture, the devil does not have power to hurt you; rather, God has given you power to deal with him, if you are a child of God. The question now is: What does the devil use to capture his victims' He uses the following traps for this purpose: Trap of waste: This is the devil's device to make the people paupers. Waste is a foul spirit. There are some people living in a room of N500 per month, while their telephone bill is N3, 000 monthly. That is waste caused by the devil. Such people only send their parents a paltry sum of N100, when they remember to do so. The devil has made them not to obey God's Word, which says they should honour their parents (Ephesians 6:2-3). The story of the prodigal son in the Bible is that of one who had a temporary insanity, which expressed itself in wastes (Luke 15:11-14). A waster is bound to be poor. A waster has no future, unless he or she repents of the vice. Trap of deception The devil is very subtle and uses tricks to get his victim. The Bible tells a story of how Satan deceived Adam and his wife, Eve. Satan made them disobey God by eating the forbidden fruit. This led to their fall and they missed the luxurious and comfortable Garden of Eden (Genesis 3:1-24). God's Word says: But as many as received him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name (John 1:12). Every Word of God you receive by faith qualifies you to be a sign and wonder. But the devil tirelessly challenges the integrity of the scripture and deceives the people, so they won't believe God's Word. For instance, he makes people not to pay their tithe and things become tight for them. Tithe is the tenth part or ten per cent of whatever comes to you as income. God's Word encourages tithing in Leviticus 27:30, which says: And all the tithe of the land, whether of the seed of the land, or of the fruit of the tree, is the Lord's: it is holy unto the Lord. Your tithe does not belong to you; it is God's (Malachi 3:10)! The deceiver and trickster is still actively on duty. When you despise tithing, you live under the curse of financial misfortune (2 Corinthians 2:11). To deal with the trap of deception, you need revelation. It takes an encounter with God's Word, for the revelation that will free you from Satan's deception. When the Spirit of God reveals to you a solution to devil's deception, all you need to do is to take a bold step of faith to put it to work. Trap of weariness: The devil wants to weary you in your commitment to God (Daniel 7:25). His mission is to wear you out before your harvest time. For instance, after the planting season, you need patience (time) to reach the harvest season (Luke 8:15). The devil wearies you so you become impatient and miss your harvest. Friend, it takes genuine patience to enjoy harvest (James 5:7).So many people took off, just before their harvest! The devil wearied them out of their anticipated harvest. He has made many more captives by making them feel they are being cheated. You need grace to overcome the devil's weariness (2 Corinthians 8:7). Trap of depression: Depression is the condition when one feels sad and despondent. Satan wants to depress you to deny you of your harvest. For instance, if you want to give an offering to God, you must do it cheerfully. This is because God loves a cheerful giver (2 Corinthians 9:7). But the work of the devil is to depress you and make sure God rejects your seed. When you are depressed, your harvest is destroyed (Psalm 67:1-7). Friend, the happier you are, the heavier your harvest (Joel 1:11-12). Reject the trap of depression and be joyful always (1Thessalonians 5:16). Trap of covetousness: Satan moves people to steal so he can bring them under a curse (Proverbs 3:33). Covetousness motivates stealing in a person's life. It takes financial integrity to enjoy kingdom prosperity. The Bible tells a story of how Achan coveted and stole some garments, silver and gold. Because of this, he and his entire household were stoned and burnt with fire (Joshua 7:20-25). The Bible says: Godliness with contentment is great gain (1Timothy 6:6). Contentment is the cure for covetousness. You don't need to cut corners to survive. Friend, you need God's help to escape from these traps, if you are His child. You become one by accepting and confessing Jesus as your Saviour and Lord. If you want to be a child of God, please say this prayer: Lord Jesus, I come to You today. I am a sinner. Forgive me my sins. Today, I accept You as my Lord and Saviour. Thank You for saving me!
