Super Eagles coach Stephen Keshi has said Chelsea midfielder Mikel Obi can snub the country if he feels his body is not right for Nigeria. The new manager of the national team added that fielding Mikel should not be a desperate choice for Nigeria and would not sanction him for featuring for Chelsea on Sunday. The Blues player had opted out of Keshis first two games in charge of the national team after complaining of a back injury. Consequently, Keshi said he would be disappointed if Mikel played for Chelsea against Liverpool on Sunday. However, Mikel played for Chelsea in the 2-1 defeat to Liverpool at Stamford Bridge, making the error that led to the Reds first goal.I expected Mikel in Kaduna to play 45 minutes against Zambia but he complained of a back problem. And I said I would be disappointed if he plays for Chelsea. If he feels his body is not right for Nigeria, its okay. We have more than 150 million Nigerians. So we should be able to find a replacement from this number, Keshi said at the activation of the MTN International Viewing Centre at the Oriental Hotel, Lagos, on Sunday. Its not a do-or-die issue. What we need to do is to give confidence to the other players who are ready to play for the country. On Mikels mistake against Liverpool, Keshi said, Its part of the game. Someone has to make a mistake for the other team to score. And for the second time since he took charge, Keshi hinted that Blackburn striker Yakubu Aiyegbeni and Ukraine-based Sani Kaita may return to the Eagles soon. Both players have been out of the squad since last years World Cup in South Africa.Keshi said, Yakubu is a good player. I have called him on phone and told him to keep some goals he is scoring for Blackburn for the Eagles. I was baffled at how Kaita was crucified after being sent off in South Africa. I dont know why he is not here. He is dying to play for Nigeria.
