Dubai Inter Continental Cup: Beach Eagles face Russia today

THE Beach Eagles will today face reigning world champions, Russia in their opening group game of the 2011 Dubai Beach Soccer Inter Continental Cup billed for 3pm Nigerian time.Coach of the Beach Eagles, Adamu Audu, in a telephone chat with Tribunesports from Dubai, yesterday said his boys were in high spirits for the competition."We lost to Russia 4-8 during the last World Cup in Italy and we are determined to avenge the defeat this time. We have experienced players in the team and we are determined to win the Cup in Dubai."Bathlomew Ibenegbu did not make the team due to injury while James Okwuosa is on trials abroad but the team to the World Cup is intact and I believe we have a chance to perform better than we did in Italy," Adamu who coached Nigeria to the last two FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup finals said.Meanwhile, the African champions will confront the host, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) tomorrow while the team takes on Tahiti on Thursday in the last group game.The Nigerian squad consists of Abdul Isah, Isiaka Olawale, Emmanuel Zabi, Shehu Maijama, Nelson Onyekachi, Okemmiri Ogbonnaya, Victor Tale, Abu Azeez, Musa Najere, Ogbonna Emeka, Oladipupo Olaleke and Demka Monayan.
