7 killed in fresh Fulani attack in Plateau

NO fewer than sevenpeople were killedin renewed hostilities between the Berom and Fulani in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State on Sunday and in the early hours of Monday, while 20 others sustained injuries.Nigerian Tribune learnt that the incident occurred on Sunday, when some Fulani herdsmen on revenge mission for their cattle alleged to have been rustled by the natives stormed Razat village in the local government and killed four people and disappeared before the arrival of security agents.Those living within the vicinity identified the deceased as Jacob Davou, 32; Ezekiel Ishaku, 28; Ishaya Bulus, 25 and one other.Nigerian Tribune learnt that in the early hours of Monday, the natives succeeded in killing three of the assailants, who were still hiding in the nearby bush.The policemen in the area later arrested two of the suspects and paraded them at the divisional police headquarters of the council.The information and media officer of the Special Task Force (STF) in the state, Captain Charles Ekeocha, confirmed the death of seven people in the attack, adding that the prompt intervention of men of the force arrested the situation.The Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to Governor Jonah Jang, Mr Pam Ayuba, told newsmen that the governor received the news with shock, following efforts being put in place by government for lasting peace in the state.The chairman of Barkin-Ladi council, Mr Emma-nuel Lomanm, condemned the attack, lamenting that despite efforts to resolve the unwarranted killings, enemies of the state were still bend on causing havoc on innocent citizens.
