THE chairman ofGombe LocalGovernment Area of Gombe State, Alhaji Ibrahim Dasuki Jalo-Waziri, has said that the council would not condone any move aimed at disrupting the peace of the area, just as he called on members of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) in the area to be more security- conscious. The chairman, who is also the ALGON national president, while addressing the union executive and members at the council chambers duringa courtesy visit, directed them to stop, and report any passenger whom they suspect to be a security-risk to the police for immediate action.According to him, this is in addition to other security measures taken by the local administration in the local government area to ensure the maintenance of peace and tranquility.Jalo-Waziri also said this observation became imperative following the tension created in many parts of the North as a result of the January ethno-religious crisis in Jos, the Plateau State capital. He commended the leadership of the union for running to the council to report any misunderstanding at the motor parks and called on them not to relent in this effort, stressing that government would continue to support and create a peaceful environment for business and developmental programmes to thrive in all communities of the council.Earlier, the state chairman of the Workers NURTW, Alhaji Gidado Mabani said they were in the local government secretariatto register their solidarity and support to the chairman and over the developmental projects executed by him.He, however, appealed to the council chairman to look into the problem of erosion in the Dukku Motor Park, surround the tipper park with fence, clear the illegal structures from Dukku Motor Park and help prevent commercial motorcycles from entering their motor parks.
