Rural farmers' neglect

The Secretary, Cassava Farmers Association, Delta State, Mrs. Helen Obrogo, has decried the neglect of rural farmers by the three tiers of government.She spoke on Wednesday in Asaba while reacting to the move by the Federal Government to remove subsidy on fertiliser.Implementing the policy on subsidy removal will further increase the poverty level of poor farmers in the country, Obrogo said in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria.She noted with regret that fertiliser are not always available when needed by farmers in the state.Obrogo said, Fertiliser is an important farm input that helps to improve the quality of the soil, because most soil in the state needs fertiliser to improve crop yield.
