6 die, 10 injured in Ibadan auto crashes

Six people have reportedly lost theirlives, while 10 others sustained injuries in auto crashes on Ibadan-Oyo road.Nigerian Tribune learnt on Thursday that four people had, on Wednesday, around 7.00 p.m, died when a tanker carrying diesel ran into a pothole and lost control.The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Moniya Unit commander, Francis Adebayo, who confirmed the incident, said the tanker fell and it immediately caught fire, which burnt occupants beyond recognitionHe said before the men of the state fire service arrived at the scene, the four victims had been burnt.The charred bodies, he said, had been deposited at the morgue of the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan, while those who sustained injuries were receiving medical treatment at a hospital in the area.Adebayo said the FRSC officials were at the scene of the accident till 10.30 p.m, controlling traffic on Wednesday.However, he said around 5.30 a.m on Thursday, four commercial vehicles ran into the stationed tanker, leading to the death of another two people, while 10 others sustained injuries.The state FRSC Sector Commander, Godwin Ogagaoghene, had earlier confirmed the incident.
