New Volkswagen Tiguan gets extra style, strength

VOLKSWAGEN has described the new Tiguan Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) as a combination of versatility coupled with functionality of a mainstream crossover.According to Volkswagen, Tiguan comes equipped across board with turbocharged engine, self-possessed ride handling and top safety scores.Brand Manager, (Volkswagen passenger vehicles), Volkswagen Centre, Lagos, Anurag Shah, explained recently during the presentation of the all-new Tiguan that the interior boasts of luxurious interior.He added that the quality of materials used in the Tiguan compares with premium brands like Audi.He said: 'The Tiguan's styling cues places it somewhere between the larger VW Touareg SUV and smaller VW Golf hatchback.'Also included as standard on the Tiguan are antilock disc brakes, traction and stability control, front-seat side airbags and side curtain airbags.As with most vehicles in the Volkswagen line-up, the Tiguan boasts a premium-style cabin that approaches Audi in its overall sense of quality with high-end materials, solid craftsmanship and actual metal trim that ensures premium feel.Available in three trim levels S, SE and SEL, the base 'S' model comes standard with 16-inch alloy wheels, full power accessories, air-conditioning, cruise control and a tilt-and-telescoping leather-wrapped multifunctional steering wheel.These are in addition to the front and rear fog lamps, keyless entry, cloth upholstery, eight-way manually adjustable front seats and eight-speaker stereo with a CD/MP3 player and an auxiliary audio jack.The SE, however, adds 17-inch wheels, additional chrome exterior trim, a power-adjustable driver seat, heated front seats, sports package, and leather upholstery with upgraded touch-screen stereo, rain-sensing wipers and dual-zone automatic climate control.However, Tiguan SEL offers fashionable features such as 18-inch sport wheels, panoramic sun and moon roof, keyless go, park distance control with park assist, xenon headlamps and drowsiness detection.Volkswagen Tiguan is powered by a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-inline that produces 180 horsepower with all-wheel drive and seven-speed automatic transmission.
