Amosun, Oronsaye, NPAN, NUJ Condole With Ibru's Family

OGUN State Governor Ibikunle Amosun, leaders of the Newspapers Proprietors Association of Nigeria (NPAN), and the Nigerian Union of Journalist (NUJ) have visited the Lagos residence of the late Guardian Publisher, Mr. Alex Ibru yesterday, to commiserate with the family.Amosun, who was received by former Ogun State governor Chief Segun Osoba, former Delta State governor, Olorogun Felix Ibru and other members of the Ibru family, said the death of The Guardian Publisher was not only a loss his immediate family but to Nigeria as a whole.While playing glowing tribute to the late Ibru, the governor said he gave his best to the service of his fatherland. He described Alex Ibru as 'a patriot and elder statesman that gave his all in the service of his fatherland Nigeria. Adieu conscience of the nation.'Similarly, the NPAN, led by its president and Publisher of Thisday, Mr. Nduka Obaigbena, condoled with the wife of the departed media chief, Maiden.Amidst tears, Maiden explained how life has not been the same for her late husband, health wise, after the failed attempt on his life 15 years ago.In his condolence message, the Managing Director, Sun Publishing Ltd, Mr. Tony Onyima who was part of the NPAN delegation said with Ibru's death 'the media and Nigeria has lost a gentleman and philanthropist and manager of men.'The NUJ national president, Mallam Garba Muhammed described the late Ibru as one of the largest employers of journalists in Nigeria.The Deputy Governor of Delta State, Chief Amos Utuama (SAN) said the death of Ibru at this time was very sad. He said though Alex died young, one could take solace in the fact that he affected his society positively while he was alive.Former Senate President, Chief Ken Nnamani, also commiserated with family of the deceased. He saids 'Nigeria has really lost an icon in the media and business world.
