Williams Ibori Urges Prayers For Urhobo

Published by Guardian on Sat, 26 Nov 2011

Wants Stadium Named After AlexAS Nigerians mourn the late publisher of The Guardian, Alexander Uruemu Ibru, the Unugbrogodo of Ogharefe in Oghara Kingdom, Chief Williams Ibori, has urged the people of Delta State, particularly the 23 Urhobo kingdoms, to be prayerful in the remaining part of the year, saying that Ibru's death was one setback too many for the people. The news of Ibru's death sent the entire Urhobo nation and people of Delta into another round of mourning last Sunday and Ibori, who is an elder brother to former governor, James Ibori, said the rate at which Delta is losing its eminent personalities 'is becoming so alarming.'Speaking with The Guardian in a sober mood, he said: 'We are losing our eminent personalities at alarming rate. First, it was Chief Edward Esiso of Agbarho and a few weeks later, we lost the Second Republic Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Chief Patrick Bolokor.'It was followed by the death of two other great Deltans, the first Chief Executive Officer of Delta Steel Company (DSC), Senator Fred Aghogho Brume and the Deputy Premier in the defunct Mid-Western Region, Chief James Otobo. We also lost another great leader within the same period, Dr. Richard Tosawunmi. No one can question God's authority when it comes to death, but it is becoming too frequent. That is why I am calling on our people to be prayerful in the remaining part of the year,' Ibori stated. On the late Ibru, Ibori said: 'He was an icon who will be missed by all Urhobo, Deltans and Nigerians in general. Ibru uplifted the name of Delta State and Nigeria, especially in the media industry. He improved the society better than he met it. He will be missed by all.
