Abandoned Lagos community drinks from group, missionary's milk of kindness

Makoko, a Lagos community that has been abandoned for ages, is gradually coming back to life, thanks to a group of youths and a foreign missionary. To the distraught residents of the stinking and sinking community overlooking the Third Mainland Bridge, the Lagos State Government has not achieved anything in the area of infrastructural development. CHARLES OKONJI and BUKOLA BAKARE, who visited the village, captured the plight of the residents.Makoko, a village in Yaba, Lagos, about three weeks ago, drew a pathetic sight as Olumide Emmnuel Foundation (OEF), a non-governmental organisation, which is particularly interested in poverty eradication across the country, visited the area to present some foodstuffs, clothes and other materials to the residents.As the residents also saw some missionaries, led by an American missionary, Pastor Dave Douglas, who visited their community, the questions on the lips of many of them is: What would make visit such a place
