PRESIDENT of the Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC), Engineer Sani Ndanusa, has disclosed that a befitting training camp has been secured for Team Nigeria ahead of London 2012 Olympics at Guildford Surrey adding that, the Nigeria Olympics Committee, NOC, has put in place measures to guard against dope scandal during the London Olympics."Before you can be admitted into the camp, every athlete will undergo dope test and if you are found wanting, we are going to punish you, punish the coach too and go further to know the implication of the case."Every athlete will stay in the camp for at least 40 days after which they will undergo dope test again before the Games proper and if any one is found wanting, the same punishment applies. We will ensure that our athletes are adequately prepared for the Games," he explained.Ndanusa, who is also the president of the Nigeria Tennis Federation added that "the NOC has been giving some of our gold medallists at the 2010 Commonwealth Games N150,000 monthly subvention each through the assistance of the IOC to boost their preparations for the Olympics apart from the effort by the sports ministry to make our outing in London a huge success'.Meanwhile,MINISTER/Chariman National Sports Commission (NSC), Suleiman Yusuf believes Nigeria's athletes to the forthcoming London 2012 Olympics will excel at the event going by their performance at the All Africa Games held in Maputo, Mozambique.Speaking on the preparations of Team Nigeria for the Olympics, the NSC boss said having done well at the All Africa Games, he had absolute confidence that the athletes would be in their best form to make Nigeria proud in London.While making reference to the performance of Nigeria in past editions of the Olympics, the Minister disclosed that the country would aim at improving on its 23 medal haul from past editions, stressing that the country has what it takes to win more than two gold medals at the Olympics.Meanwhile, President of the Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN) Solomon Ogba has revealed that the federation plans to go to London with its best athletes.He stated that the standard set by the world athletics body was high and therefore Nigeria requires only athletes of high standard to take part in AFN's event.Ogba added that Nigeria would also conform with the standard, hence, only the country's best would be be paraded at the London Olympics.Nigeria is expected to take part in 13 games including Badminton, athletics, Canoeing, Wrestling and football if the Dream Team qualifies for the games, among others .
