Enugu govt to provide potable water for varsity community

The Enugu State government has said that it will provide potable water for residents of the Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT) to make life easier for the students.Governor Sullivan Chime made the call recently in Enugu during the school's 14th convocation.He promised to lessen accommodation problems facing the students of the university by completing the construction of existing hostel buildings and erecting new ones.'On our part as a government, we will continue to partner with the university in many ways that will promote quality education and enhanced sound academic pursuit.'Today, we are vigorously pursuing the provision of potable water to the university communities.'Ambassador Hassan Adamu, the newly-appointed Chancellor of the institution, pledged his commitment to encouraging the university to achieve its goals and aspirations.He stressed the need to raise funds for the university to be able to set up its modern bookshop estimated to cost N25 million, general studies division for N35 million and the fencing of its land for N400 million.Adamu used the occasion to announce that he would personally establish a modern bookshop worth N25 million for the school which would be named after Vice-President Namadi Sambo.'Your Excellency, I promise to perform my duties faithfully and diligently as chancellor of the Enugu State University of Science and Technology.'I hereby pledge the assurance of my earnest commitment to seeing that ESUT realise its goals and aspirations as well as maintain an enviable position among other universities in Nigeria.'On his part, the Vice-Chancellor of the university, Prof. Cyprian Onyeji, congratulated the graduates, urging them to be good ambassadors of the university.He charged them to hold on to integrity, equity, hard work, self respect and self dedication to their endeavours.It was gathered that a total of 44,393 persons who graduated from the school since 1998 were conferred with bachelor's degrees during the ceremony.
