212 foreign firms bid for 17 PHCN companies

No fewer than 212 firms spread across 38 countries have been pre-qualified to participate in the bid for 17 unbundled companies of the Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) in the on-going privatisation of the power sector. Disclosing this yesterday, the Minister of Power, Professor Barth Nnaji, also said that the process of transferring government equity in 17 out of the 18 PHCN successor companies to core investors would be completed in 2012. The minister disclosed this while delivering a goodwill message at the opening of the electric power transaction and industry review conference organised by the Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE) at the Banquet Hall, State House, Abuja.
