Durosimi-Etti emerges star of Lagos t'tennis league

Tolu Durosimi-Etti has emerged the first player to win the Lagos Table Tennis League back-to-back in the womens event after beating Funke Hassan in Week Four of the championship held at the Mobolaji Johnson Sports Complex, Rowe Park in Yaba.Former champions Aminat Fashola and Funke Hassan failed to retain their titles after winning Week One and Two but the highly-experienced Durosimi-Etti set a new competition record when she overcame Hassan 11-5, 11-3, 5-11, 11-5 in the Week Four final of the competition. She had also claimed the title in Week Three after beating Fatimo Bello 3-2.Bello has had a miserable time in the competition despite her high work rate. The player has played in three finals but failed to win any.However, the mens event has been at its competitive best as new champions continued to emerge on a weekly basis. The latest champion is Kazeem Makanjuola, who defeated Ayo Omotara in the Week Four final. Makanjuola overcame Omotara 11-9, 11-8, 11-8 to claim the title for the first time.
