Bayelsa Utd player Ameh dies in hospital

Twenty-year-old Bayelsa United player Aruwa Ameh has died after complaining of pain in his arm while playing with friends.Bayelsa United said striker Ameh died nearly a week after being hospitalised in Kaduna, where he had been visiting his family. He was pronounced dead Monday at a local hospital.Team spokesman George Ameli told The Associated Press that the cause of death was unknown.He said the club, which is based in Yenagoa, received reports that Ameh went to the hospital over arm pain and never came back.Emmanuel Bivan, a former teammate of the deceased at Kaduna United, recalled that the player took ill after a training session at an open ground in Ungwan Rimi area of the city last Wednesday.You know that we are in the off-season in the premier league and the lower division too are on break. So he came to Kaduna for the break and while training in Ungwan Rimi last week Wednesday, he started complaining of pains in one of his hands and left for home.Later he was taken to a hospital in Kaduna same day and before I knew it, I was informed that he was paralysed.And by this (Monday) evening I was called and told that Aruwa Ameh is dead. His death is a shock to me because he was such a talented player, the Kaduna United midfielder said.and I am pained by this loss, The late player enjoyed success with Bayelsa United when they were crowned Nigerian Premier League champions in 2008/2009 before suffering relegation the next season to the lower cadre of the Nigerias football league known as the Nigeria National League.
