House committee on Sports investigates Ekeji

THE Director General of the National Sports Commission (NSC) Patrick Ekeji is to face an investigative panel over a litany of allegations by prominent Nigerians.Chairman of the House of Representatives Sports Committee Godfrey Gaya informed reporters in Tangier,Morocco, on Monday that some prominent Nigerians submitted to the Presidency a rash of petitions against the NSC Director General.He revealed further that the petitions were also sent to the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, who then invited him for a parley where the over 195 petitions were handed to him.'My Speaker gave me the petitions long time ago and directed that the Sports Committee should invite the DG to answer the posers raised in the petitions.'Looking at the petitions especially after reading through them, it is only fair that the DG is allowed to defend himself. The allegations in the petition are grave and one that shouldn't be swept aside.'The investigative panel will meet after the Olympic qualifiers in Morocco and then a date set aside to ask the DG to come.'My Speaker has been asking me for update on the matter since most of the prominent Nigerians who submitted the petitions want to know what we are doing.
