We'll not waver in Nigeria's transformation -Jonathan

PRESIDENT GoodluckJonathan, on Monday, said in spite of numerous challenges confronting the nation, his administration remains unwavering in the task of transforming the nation.President Jonathan, represented by Vice-President Namadi Sambo, said this while declaring open the Nigerian Public Service conference, organised by the Presidential Committee on the Review of the Reform Processes in the Nigerian Public Service in Abuja on Tuesday.The president, who took a critical look at the Nigerian public service, expressed the resolve of his government to carry out comprehensive reform of the system in order to support the realisation of his transformation agenda.Jonathan said the erosion of core values of ethics, integrity, transparency, accountability, impartiality, among others, had invariably, 'incapacitated the public service making it lose the required steam and vigour to function effectively and efficiently to the satisfaction of Nigerians.'He said this prompted the setting up of the presidential committee in March this year, as part of efforts to reposition the Nigerian public service and 'make it the most effective developmental arm of government, particularly in ensuring that it is the efficient driver of the Transformation Agenda.'Jonathan noted that government acknowledged the enormous human and natural endowments of the nation, and had developed a blueprint to improve the living standard of Nigerians and place the country among the top 20 economies of the world by 2020.
