Ajimobi seeks IITA's assistance on agric development

GOVERNOR Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State has solicited the assistance of the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA), Ibadan in the development of the agricultural sector in the state.He stated this while hosting the Director-General of the institute, Mr. Nteranya Sanginga, who paid him a courtesy visit in his office recently.The governor said that the institute should consider assisting Oyo State as its host-state, especially in areas where the state had comparative advantage.He also said that the partnership should be in the area of cassava, food and agriculture as well as in the provision of some of the institute's special seedlings with very short gestation period.Ajimobi directed the state Ministry of Agriculture to liaise with the institute to fashion out further areas of cooperation that could help the state government in its agricultural initiative.
