Agege Stadium hosts pre-season football tourney

AN EIGHT-team pre-season football tournament is to hold at the Agege Stadium in Lagos from December 16 to December 23, 2011 at the behest of Jay Tee Investment Nigeria Limited, which has promised that the event would help prepare teams in the Premier and National Leagues for next season.The teams expected for the competition are Wikki Tourists of Bauchi, Warri Wolves, Sharks of Port Harcourt, Shooting Stars Sports Club of Ibadan, Bridge Boys of Lagos, First Bank Football Club, City Of David United, Multisports International and Bayelsa United.According to the Managing Director of the Company, John Tata, a former defender of Julius Berger Football Club of Lagos, the pre-season football tournament will feature four Nigeria Premier League teams, two National League sides and two teams from the Amateur ranks.Tata revealed the tournament would foster unity among Nigerian players and also help them understand the benefits in developing in Nigeria before moving abroad for professional career.
