Nsukka residents urge FG to immortalise Ojukwu

Residents ofNsukka havecalled on the Federal Government to name some public structures after late Chukwuemeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu as a way of rewarding his numerous contributions to national development.Mrs Philomena Ogummah, a trader, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Nsukka that Ojukwu was a worthy son of Nigeria who contributed immensely to socio-economic development of the country.'The only way to reward Ojukwu for his immense contributions, strong belief in equality and justice is to name some structures, roads and streets after him.'He was a great statesman and social crusader. The death of Ojukwu was a great blow to the country and Ndigbo in particular,' she saidMr Peter Odo, a civil servant, said that Ojukwu was a brave soldier in the history of the country.'His courage in fighting for the interest of his Igbo clan cannot be forgotten in hurry. He was a gallant officer, successful politician and a visionary leaders' leader.'He was a national and international icon during his lifetime. FG should immortalise Ojukwu for his selfless service to the fatherland,' he said.'If our leader should be as sincere as Ojukwu, this country will move to the next level,' he said.
