Sunday School ...With Pastor Enoch Adeboye

The Christian Home (I)Memory Verse: Ephesians 5:33Bible Passage: Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife see that she reverence her husband.INTRODUCTION: God is the head of every family. Everyone has parents. God likened the relationship between husband and wife to the relationship between Christ and the Church. (Ephesians 5)Lesson OutlinesSubmissionThis is one of the most contentious issues, even in Christian marriages. The Bible is clear on this: 'Wives submit unto your husband as unto the Lord' (Eph. 5:21-23; 1Peter 3:1; Col.3:18; 1Tim. 2:11-14).The husband is the head of the Christian home. This is God's plan for leadership, conflict resolution, peace, love and joy in the family. The husband should not humiliate, oppress or exploit the wife. A Christian wife should be pure and holy (Titus 2:4-5); have a mother's heart (Ps. 128:3; 1Sam;2:14); be hospitable (Ps.31:20) and prayerful (Matt.15;22-28).LoveGod commands the husband to love his wife as himself and as Christ loved the Church (Eph. 5:21-33). When a husband obeys this command, he will cease to have difficulties about his wife's obedience (Rom. 5:8-10; Matt. 26: 66-75). This is more than verbal or emotional love. It is living up to the marital vows made before God and men (Eph. 5:25; John 15:3; Phil 2:5-8). The head is incomplete without the body (Eph. 52: 8-29, 31).ParentingChildren are God's gift and must be properly cared for by both parents (Ps.127:3-7 Ps. 128:1-6; Prov. 22:6). Parents will be held accountable by God (Matt:19:14). Provision of food, clothing, shelter and education are some of the basic responsibilities of parents, especially the father. Children must be well trained and disciplined (Prov. 22:15). Childrenmust obey parents (Eph. 6:1).Conclusion:Fault lines in family life are serious and can result in foundational problems and compromise in the future. Christ, the chief Corner Stone, can rectify all faults if members will put all their trust in Him.
