Awoniyi: Polls Free And Peaceful

ARCHITECT Yomi Awoniyi, the running mate of Captain Idris Wada the PDP governorship candidatehas described yesterday's election as peaceful.Speaking with reporters at Ward 4 unit 4 in Mopa in Mopamuro local government area of the state, he said that the accreditation of voters commenced as early as possible.According to him,election materials arrived early, which made it easier to start on time as he expressed confidence that PDP would emerge victorious.Also speaking, running mate to the candidate of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), Barrister Henry Ojula said the low turnout was due to apathy on the part of voters.He also expressed optimism that ACN candidate would emerge as governor and would transform the state.Also fielding questions fromreporters at Isanlu, the National Commissioner of INEC, Dame Gladys Nne Innewafor, who monitored the election in four local government areas said the conduct was peaceful.She explained that the turnout was impressive and voters conducted themselves properly.When asked about the possibility of people hijacking the ballot papers, Innewafor pointed out that it was impossible, noting that the Ballot papers were customised in line with each council area.A stalwart of Action Congress of Nigeria, Prince Rotimi Obadofin commended the accreditation and conduct of election in Aiyegunle Gbede, saying that the people of the communityremained one large family and could not afford to pick up arms againstthemselves.He was optimistic that ACN would win the governorship race.
