Dangote disburses N600m to Kano women

The Dangote Foundation has commenced the disbursement of N600million to women in Kano State.A statement by Dangote Group, said the disbursement began Saturday at the Sani Abacha Stadium with initial 4,400 beneficiaries drawn from the 44 local government of the state.He said the money was disbursed through the Women Empowerment and Free School Feeding Schemes of the Kano State government.Speaking at the disbursement ceremony, Kano State Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, described the contribution of the Dangote Foundation as unprecedented in the history of the state.He urged beneficiaries not to divert the money for other uses but to invest in the trades they have learned at the training centres.Head of the Kano state agency responsible for the management of the scheme, Alhaji Bello Magaji Toranke, said 44,000 women would benefit from the Dangote gesture.Speaking on the selection process, he said there were 8,000 polling units and that each polling unit would produce five women.Representative of Aliko Dangote, Ahmed Iya, thanked the governor for given the foundation opportunity to contribute and urged beneficiaries to maximize the uses.A beneficiary, Mrs Janet Ibru from the Sabon Gari East Ward of Fagge Local Government Area, said she intended to trade with the money.Another beneficiary Mrs. Juliana Nabude from Sabon Gari Westward said the money will help her take care of her five children.Hajiya Rahinatu Abdullahi, another beneficiary from Kumbotso Local Government Area, said the money would enable her to keep on with business.
