Kwara govt moves to rebuild Ohan link bridge

The Kwara Stategovernment has awarded contract worth N15 million for the re-construction of Ohan Bridge linking Kwara state with Benin Republic to Specialist Military Engineers, who in the first place, constructed the bridge.The road belongs to the Federal government.A press release signed by the Commissioner for Information, Tunji Moronfoye and made available to the Community News in Ilorin at the weekend, said that an alternative bridge was being constructed to enable easy movement of people with less constraints.The commissioner also said that the main bridge would be ready for use by end of January 2012 when the makeshift bridge would be dismantled.On the Kwara State Bridge Employment Scheme, (KWABES), Moronfoye said it was a monumental success, adding that the beneficiaries were engaged in various government's parastatals and were being adequately monitored."As we enter into the new year, government is considering doubling the number of beneficiaries who are already contributing to the growth and development of the state", he said, adding that the employment in to the State Civil Service will be through the scheme.The commissioner said the PDP government was resolute to provide real dividends of democracy through provision of good roads, healthcare delivery, potable water, security, investment and tourism, among others.
