Published by Tribune on Wed, 20 Jun 2012

THE immediate past Secretary to the Oyo State Government (SSG), Chief Layiwola Olakojo, escaped death when four suspected assailants stormed his residence in Oyo, around 11.00 p.m on Monday.Narrating his ordeal at his residence, located at 187, Abiodun Atiba road, Owode, Oyo, Chief Olakojo alleged that the suspected assailants gained entrance through the backyard fence.According to him, 'when the assailants got to the apartment, they met two elderly women who challenged their mission.Chief Olakojo said the suspected assailants answered the women, saying 'where is Chief Lakojo' We don't have any business with you.'Seeing that they did not have any business with the women, he said they left the room and intensified efforts to fish him out, though, unknowingly to them, he had heard their conversation with the women and had run for cover.According to Chief Olakojo, when the assailants could not find him, they left the residence by scaling the fence again. The former SSG said this was the second time an attempt would be made on his life, while he appealed to appropriate authorities to act on the matter. When contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Bisi Clet Ilobanafor, said it was true that some people scaled the fence and flashed their torch lights and when occupants of the house saw this, they raised the alarm, making the suspected people to run away.'By the time they called the police, they have gone. It could be robbery incident,' she said.
