Kebbi gov releases N82m to resettle border communities

GovernorSaiduDakingari of Kebbi State has approved the release of N82 million for the resettlement of four border communities that opted to be part of Nigeria, instead of Benin Republic.Tungar Isa,Wasari,Mahuta and Tungar Ware are the four communities which chose to be resettled in Nigeria's part of Tsamiya in Bagudo Local Government Area.Dakingari , who had earlier visited the communities, said the resettlement was sequel to the border readjustment by the Federal Government three years ago.NAN reports that the affected communities opted to be part of Nigeria after they were informed of the implication of the border readjustment between Nigeria and Benin Republic.He said that a school, a market and a hospital had been provided in the new settlement at Tsamiya, stressing that 1,000 houses would be provided and allocated according to the size of each household.The governor expressed the hope that the new settlement would be ready for occupation within six months.The Sole Administrator of Ilo Development Area, Alhaji Haruna Bani, who hosted the resettled people, called for speedy provision of amenities in Tsamiya to enable them relocate and continue their daily livelihood.
