In fulfillment of hiselectoral promise tothe Post-graduate students of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, the Senator representing Osun East [Ife-Ijesha] at the upper chamber, Senator Babajide Omoworare, donated two giant size television sets to the Murtala Muhammed Post-graduate Hall. The graduate of Law of the same institution, who represented Lagos at the State House of Assembly for eight years, was accompanied by his sister, Honourable Omoworare; his personal assistant, Mr Ayo Worare; the Chairman, Ife Central Local Government, Dr Taiwo Olaiya; Honourable Omisakin and Olohunwa Adeleke, a 400 Level student of Psychology at the university.Addressing the over-crowded hall, he narrated how he made the pledge during his electioneering campaign in the school. 'I wanted to drop the television sets but your chairman told me that he had convened a meeting. Though, traditionally, I know OAU students were going to vote for our party, I thought there was a need to solicit their support. While I made the pledge, some said I was making unrealistic pledge but today, everybody has seen it. This is just a tip of the ice-berg; OAU is not just part of my senatorial district, it is my alma-mata. I will do everything possible for the betterment of this school. I am still coming with something bigger which will be beneficial to all members of this community. Your efforts must be repaid for voting our party en-masse during the last election. I thank you all for your resilience; Osun a dara.'Buttressing Barrister Omoworare's position, the Chairman, Ife Central Local Government, Dr Olaiya Taiwo said: 'Senator Omoworare is one with a clear difference. Within a space of seven months, he has done many things. He facilitated the dredging of our rivers and waste management. Now, it is your turn. His office is accessible; he has two offices; Ilesa and Ife. On my part, I am going to assist the school, not because it is in our local government, but it has put our town, Ife, on the world map.'Appreciating the kind gesture, the chairman of the hall, Abidemi, was full of praise for the young lawmaker: 'We are very grateful for these; he promised one but gave us two. We appeal to other stakeholders in this domain to extend their hands to the community.'Commending the lawmaker, Sikiru Akinola, who is a 300 Level student of Political Science at the university appealed to the senator to serve with the fear of God. 'I have been monitoring you since your second term at the Lagos State House of Assembly when you were the majority leader. I would advise you continue with the good work. Since I was admitted into this school, you have always identified with us; maybe it is because you graduated from here. I would like to appeal to you to help talk with those that are representing us- the governor, the House of Representatives member for Ife, all the chairmen of the local governments in Ife region, to come to the aid of our university. Senator Oluremi Tinubu, Senator Femi Lanlehin, Honourable Abike Dabiri and a host of others are ours; they should come out and help us as we would be celebrating and hosting 50 Years and Nigerian University Games [NUGA], respectively, next year.'Responding, the senator said: 'Work has reached top gears on my programmes for my senatorial district. I thank you for reminding me; may God be with you.
