ARAMED offers free medicare to 150 villagers

ABOUT 150 childrenaged 0-five years atAra-Oje community were recently given free medical treatment and drugs worth millions of naira by the ARAMED Medical Centre in collaboration with the Oluyole Local Government Area of Oyo State at a two-day health delivery scheme.The scheme attracted children from motherless babies homes and children from the villages in the community.In his address at the free health care delivery programme, held at St. Andrew's Primary School, Ara-Oje in Oluyole Local Government Area, the Chairman, Board of Trustees, ARAMED Medical Centre, Ibadan, retired Archbishop of the Methodist Church of Nigeria, Bishop Ayo Ladigbolu, reaffirmed that health delivery was too critical to be left in the hands of government alone and urged all other stakeholders to collaborate effectively with the government at all levels to deliver viable and sustainable healthcare delivery service to the grass roots.The Bishop said that the ARAMED Medical Centre embarked on the healthcare project as part of its corporate social responsibility for the people of the community, the council area and the state at large bearing in mind that the medical centre was established in the council area for the people.He said that the mission and vision of the project was to reach out to the people in the community so as to let them know that the medical centre was for them and it was there for them to contact the workers when the need arose and urged them to take adequate advantage of the free drugs given to them.The two-day free healthcare treatment was presided over by Dr Tina Slusher, an associate professor of paediatrics, University of Minnesota, who is at present a consultant paediatrician at the Bowen University Teaching Hospital, Ogbomoso, who supplied the drugs and sponsored the free medical treatment and Dr Gbadero Daniel Adedosu, a medical expert and paedicatrician at the Bowen University Teaching Hospital, Ogbomoso.Dr Adedosu said that the targeted population were those who belonged to the vulnerable class who were pruned to killer diseases such as miscles, malaria, tuberculosis among others in rural communities and that parents had been advised at various times to embrace immunisation and guide against any form of injury to their children.Also at the occasion, the Supervisory Councillor for Health in the council area, Honourable Kayode Adeleke, who represented the chairman of the council, Prince Abass Alesinloye, commended the medical centre for bringing such a huge project to the council and urged the people to avail themselves of the opportunity by mobilising others to enjoy the scheme.
