Al-Makura inaugurates diabetics treatment centre

Nasarawa Stategovernor, AlhajiUmaru Tanko Al-Makura, has laid a foundation for the construction of an ultra modern free diabetics treatment centre, christened Safinatu Buhari Foundation Diabetics Centre, at the Dalhatu Araf Specialist Hospital, Lafia.Performing the foundation laying activity, Governor Al-Makura reiterated government's commitment to support the project and sought the cooperation of people of the state towards the successful completion of the noble project, just as he gave gratitude to the Safinatu Buhari Foundation for responding to his clarion call of collaboration from local and international stakeholders to complement government's efforts in this direction.According to him, a team of specialists on preventing disabilities were in the state recently to avail the people with their valuable services. He said: 'it is, therefore, my hope and expectation that this foundation-laying ceremony will mark the beginning of an enduring relationship between the SBF and the good people of Nasarawa State.Head of Safinatu Buhari delegation at the ceremony, Barrister Bertram O. Nwokorie, disclosed that the proposed ultra modern free diabetic treatment center was structured to provide comprehensive healthcare services for patients suffering from diabetes, as well to serve as a resource centre for the study of diabetes.He added that the center would also promote massive awareness on the dangers of diabetes, provide an efficient and effective data bank of people suffering from the disease as regular check-up of sugar level on patients who cannot afford the cost for checkup will be carried out in the center.
