Five trapped as Lagos ministry building collapses in Alausa

The serenity that pervaded Alausa, the seat of Lagos State Government in Ikeja, was shattered yesterday afternoon when a one-storey building collapsed, trapping at least five construction workers, including a ministry official.The building, which caved in at exactly 2:30p.m., is said to be under construction by the Ministry of Environment about 10 metres away from the main building (Land Bureau), situated inside the same yard with a commercial bank but adjacent to the Alausa Millennium Park.As at 3:30p.m. when the Nigerian Compass got to the scene, the ministry had mobilised rescuers with heavy equipment to the scene.
