Reps worried over total collapse of South-East roads

The Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Works, Chief Ogbuefi Ozomgbachi, has expressed concern over the total collapse of South-East roads, which, according to him, have been death traps.He attributed the collapse of the Abakaliki-Afikpo Road recently awarded and constructed by the Federal Government to the faulty nature of the construction design, incompetence of the contractor and compromise by the engineers of the Federal Ministry of Works.Ozomgbachi, who spoke yesterday in Abakaliki, when the committee paid a courtesy call to the Ebonyi State Governor, Chief Martin Elechi, during its oversight function to the state, regretted that the road which cost the Federal Government billions of naira to construct failed less than three years after its completion.
