Ifelodun CDA raises N2m for electrification project

Ifelodun Community DevelopmentAssociation (CDA) Dalemo, Sango Ota, Ogun State, has raised N2 milion to procure a transformer to boost electricity supply in the area.Community News learnt that Dalemo and its environs in sango Ota area of Ado-Odo/Ota Local Goverment has not been enjoying regular power supply and the problem was due to overloading of the transformer serving the area.Community News gathered that about six different communities depended on the old transformer for their power supply and due to the heavy load on it, men of the Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) decided to operate the transformer on load shedding by rotating electricity supply among the six communities.When the problem of darkness and its attendant effect became unbearable to the residents, some appeals were made to the authority at PHCN for supply of a transformer to reduce pressure on the old one.Speaking on the situation, a spokesman for the Ifelodun Community Development Association, Alhaji Lanre Oyafemi, stated that the community decided to take its destiny in its hand when efforts to get a new transformer from the PHCN failed.He explained that the people and organisations in the community after series of meetings, decided to raise money to get a transformer to solve the problem of poor power supply in the area.'We decided to raise money through self-help project and the responses from people have been very positive. Any moment from now, we would get our own transformer for installation.'Alhaji Oyafemi explained that the new transformer, when installed and become functional, would boost economic and social live in the area.
