Anambra ANPP sacks chairman

The crisis in the Anambra State chapter of the All Nigeria Peoples Party took a twist on Monday when the state working committee of the party announced the suspension of its chairman, Chief Pat Orjiako, and appointed Mr. Bogzay Uzochi, as the acting chairman.However, Orjiako dismissed the action, saying he was still in charge of the affairs of the party in the state.Announcing the decision to remove Orjiako, the state Secretary, Mr. Paul Okoye, and other executives and some national officers, accused Orjiako of anti-party activities and misapplication of party funds.They also accused the former chairman of running the party like a personal estate where he did what he liked with party funds and facilities.Okoye said Orjiako worked against the interest of the party in the last general elections, leading to the abysmal failure of the party in the state.He said the national secretariat of the party had been informed of the suspension of Orjiako, and expected it to ratify the decision soon.The leader of the party in the state, Chief George Muoghalu, decried the level of decay in the state chapter of the party and vowed to see to its revival.In his reaction, Orjiako described the claim of misapplication of funds as empty claims of political desperadoes out to tarnish his image.
