UN offers young IT experts roles in millennium development goals

UNITED Nations, in its determination to reach the Millennium Development Goal (MDGs) targeted at year 2015 has offered opportunities to young men who are vast in Information Technology to prove their skills in 'The World Summit Youth Award' (WSYA) competition.The MDGs are eight concrete goals set to eradicate poverty and inequality worldwide.WSYA has been organised to select and promote best practice in e-content and new media.Participants were also expected to exhibit potentials to create outstanding digital content to serve as a platform for people from all UN member states in their efforts to reach the MDGs.Speaking recently, a member of Think First, Technology, creators of Nigerian website 'Playmyjamz', Akinyele Olubodun, a winner of the international multimedia award of WSYA in the competition that took place in Graz, Austria, described the competition as an exemplary opportunity for young men to show-case their expertise in the world of IT and to contribute to meeting up with the MDGs set-goals.'The award truly honours young people who take action on the UN MDGs using Internet and Mobile and apart from the pride, participation and winning in such an international competition gives, experience gained and gathered from co-participants from different parts of the world also gives one an impetus to drive further in the world technology.'Definitely, it is a pride to be one of the 18 winners and 15 runners up among 700 young producers, designers and developers from all over the world that applied for the last WSYA.'Playmyjamz' offers underprivileged musicians a unique gateway to fans and fame, where they can release their songs for free and have them rated by the online community.
