Ogwashi-uku traditional ruler completes installation rites

THE Obi of Ogwashi uku community, headquarters of Aniocha South Local Government Area of Delta State, Prof. Chukwuka Okonjo, has rounded-off his installation rites as the 12th Obi of Ogwashi-uku with a visit to the abode of Adiagbo, the first monarch of the community.Speakinmg during the ceremony,Prof. Okonjo who is also the father of the Minister for Finance, Dr Ngozi,Okonjo-Iweala, called on indigenes of the community to imbibe the hospitable gesture of Mokwue who haboured Adaigo before Adigbo ascendency to the throne as the first Obi of Ogwashi-uku at Akpuenyi in the current Umuonicha quarters, Ogwashi-uku.Obi Okonjo who expressed joy over his visit to the first abode of their ancestors, disclosed that the legal tussle against the former usurpers of the throne which span over 20 years and eventually culminated in his ascending the throne, was finding its completion with his visit to Akpuenyi in honour of Mokwue for harbouring his anscestor, Adaigbo.The traditioinal ruler however, lauded the people of Umumukwue for the warm reception accorded him.Delivering a speech on behalf of the Diokpa of Umumokwue of Umuonicha Quarters, Chief Clement Eziashi, a leading member of the family, Mr Nwanze Ugbah, called on Obi Chukwuka Okonji to sustain the relationship which their forefathers in the persons of Mokwue and Adiagbo had when they cohabited.Chief Eziashi who assured the Obi of greater good things to come, said his visit to the shrine of their forefathers will usher in the much needed peace and harmony in Ogwashi-uku community.According to Chief Eziashi, Adaigbon, Obi of Ogwashi-uku I, initiated the ceremony as a pledge in honour of Mokwue that whoever ascended the Obi- ship throne of Ogwashi-uku must be presented to the Ani-isi-Eke shrine in appreciation of Mokwue's hospitality to him when he migrated from Nri to settle in the present day Ogwashi-uku.Chief Eziashi who called on the people of Ogwashi-uku to live in peace and unity at all times, stressed that no community can progress without love and unity.
