Ado-Odo builds N7.5m health centre

Published by Tribune on Thu, 26 Jan 2012

IN line with the idea that government at all level cannot alone provide for the needs of the people, indigenes of Egan in Ado- Odo/Ota Local Government Area of Ogun State have constructed a N7.5 million worth of health centre to boost healthcare delivery system.Speaking during the commissioning of the project, the community leader, Chief Idowu Jacobs, said that his people decided to take the bull by the horns to build the health centre to cater for the needs of residents of the community.Jacobs further said that the construction of the facility was done to support the present administration in the state. He bemoaned the total neglect of the community by past administrations in the state in area of infrastructure, saying that the project would save the residents from unnecessary hardship they were experiencing before they could receive medical attention. The community leader appealed to the state government to develop the community in terms of massive infrastructural development.'Now that this health centre which was built by the communal effort is in place, our indigenes will be relieved from travelling to Sango to access healthcare services,' he said. The Olowu of Owu Kingdom, Oba Olusanya Dosumu, in whose domain the community is located, commended the initiative of the people of the community.Oba Dosunmu also corroborated the idea that government alone cannot shoulder the responsibility of qualitative healthcare delivery. He called on others to emulate such gesture which he described as worthwhile.
