Dantata, Akinrele, Karim, others storm Ibadan for 2012 Polo tourney

CHAIRMAN, Kano Polo Club, Bashir Dantata, President, Lagos Polo Club, Dolapo Akinrele (SAN), Chairman, Costain West Africa, Kolade Karim and other polo players across Nigeria, would this week converge on Ibadan Polo Club, Eleyele, Ibadan, for the annual polo tournament which is scheduled to hold from February 8 to 12, 2012.According to the Chairman, Planning Committee of this year's tournament, Sola Ajayi, "Logistics have been put in place to ensure a hitch-free tournament, the tournament ought to have been held in January, but was postponed in order to have a more fun-filled tournament'.Ajayi added that more participants are expected in this year's edition, saying that, "Ibadan Polo Club is ready to ensure that all participants coming for this competition enjoy every bit of their stay". On Wednesday, Ibadan Datade team will slug it out with Ibadan Eleyele in the Ade Alakija Cup. The second game will be between Kano Susplan and Kano Bompai also in the Ade Alakija Cup.Kano Ibah Oil and Lagos Tastee Riders would lock horns also for the Ade Alakija Cup in the third game of the day.Ibadan Lead-Reform Sports and Kano Bua would be vying for honours in the Rotimi Cup. The last game of the day one of the competition is between Ibadan NFL and Kano Rambo. Some of the players expected at this year's edition are: Bashir Dantata of Kano Polo Club (+3 handicap), Dolapo Ahamadu Umar of Lagos Shoreline (+3 handicap), Saidu Umar of Ibadan Dream Team (+3 handicap) and Jibrin Ali also of Ibadan Dream Team.
