Rep empower 200 Ekiti widows

Two hundred widows in Ado Ekiti,Irepodun/Ifelodun Federal Constituency have commended the lawmaker representing the area in the House of Representatives, Honourable Opeyemi Bamidele, for reaching out to them.The lawmaker, recently, gave N20,000 to each of the 200 widows selected from the constituency by a committee set up to manage his salary to be shared to people of the area.Bamidele told the beneficiaries that although the money was a token and would not solve all their problems, he stressed that it was meant to support their various small businesses.He said the gesture was in fulfilment of part of his electioneering promises to his constituents that he would give up his salary for the empowerment of the people.At the ceremony attended by the deputy governor of the state, Mrs Funmi Olayinka and Chief (Mrs) Bisi Fayemi, wife of the state governor, and the Oluyin of Iyin, Oba Ademola Ajakaye, Bamidele also used the occasion to charge elected and appointed members of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) in the state to redeem their electioneering pledges to the people to guarantee victory for the party in the future elections.He said 'election nowadays is not won on the platform of mere seeking of political power, but on what the people thought you are able to do for them as their representatives.'According to him, to follow the empowerment of widows would be youths, who he said would get scholarships, pointing out these were among the cardinal focus of his electioneering promises.
