OLUYOLE Local Government Chairman, Prince Ayodeji Abass Aleshinloye, has distributed free exercise books to students registered for the free extra mural classes organised by the Local Government Council at Molete High School, New Garage, Ibadan.The Chairman who was impressed by the large turn out of students for the exercise, said it showed that the students were hardworking and earger to learn. 'This is a continuous process as the council is ready to give the students its full support for them to excel.'According to the cordinator of the programme, Honourable Taiwo Ibrahim, 'the governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi has mandated all the local governments in Oyo State to embark on free extra mural classes project for Secondary School Students in the state, and am I happy to announce that we have been doing it more than he mandated.'We have 10 subjects we teach the students in order to prepare them for the SSCE examinations and NECO examinations, and we have competent teachers who will take them on core subjects like English, Mathematics, Biology, Economics, Physics, Chemistry, Literature in English, Government, CRS/IRK. These are the subjects approved by governor Abiola Ajimobi and it has been going on smoothly.'Honourable Ibrahim said the distribution of the exercise books by the council boss has further motivated the students, adding 'his action has also motivated the teachers because they are tested and confirmed as many of them are WAEC Exams markers for more than 20 years.''He also added that the council has two centres for the exercise, one at Molete High School, New Garage, in which 317 students were registered and another centre at Olomi Community Primary School where about 220 students were registered. In all, ''we have close to 600 students now in Oluyole Local Government. When Community News asked about the challenges faced by the project, he said ''students, being what they are, especially secondary school students, this delinquency will always be there, a situation where a minor issue will result into a scuffle is rampant. Therefore, we requested from the chairman that we need security details for the programme and he has approved of this. Another issue we raised with the chairman which he also approved was the recruitment of teachers to take students who are in commercial classes in Commerce and Accounting, because he emphasised that he wanted a 100 per cent success for the students in his local government.
