Zambia still a threat

Published by Tribune on Wed, 14 Mar 2012

DESPITE his team's frist win over the Shepolopolo of Zambia, coach of Nigeria's U-17 women team Flamingoes, Peter Dedevbo fears the Zambians remain a mountain to climb in his team's quest to book a place in the FIFA U-17 Women World Cup.The Nigerian girls recorded a 2-1 victory over the Zambians in from of their fans in Lusaka, a result that practically puts the Flamingoes in a better position to qualify for the cadet mundial. which is billed for Azberbaijan later this year.Speaking on arrival from Lusaka, Devdevbo refused to be carried away by the team's away win, preferring instead to focus on the retunr leg scheduled for the M.K.O Abiola Stadium, Abeokuta on Mrach 24.The tactician in his words decribed the Zambians as no pushovers adding that although he had expected a tough comtest, his team went to the first leg with the aim of walloping them at their backyard."Our aim was to score as many goals as possible, but what we mwt in the Zambians showed that they are no pushovers. Although we have an advantage going by the first leg result, I still see the Zambians as a real threat to our ambition of qualifying for the World Cup."We will have to take the second leg as if nothing has happened in order to see them off and book the ticket to the FIFA World Cup,'' said the coach who also explained that the margim would have been wider but for poor finishing by his girls.
