Pro-Republican ads funded by group with untraceable donors

WASHINGTON (AP) ' Opportunity News Media wants you to know it's OK to be a Republican, and it is spending $3 million to say so in the presidential battleground states of Ohio and Colorado.Where that money comes from is anybody's guess.The television ads promote the Republican brand as broadly appealing to all Americans even as some of the presidential contenders talk up their most conservative credentials. But it's not the party paying for the ads. It's a private company that calls itself a conservative news service.The ads provide a preview of sorts for the 2016 campaign, during which television viewers will be inundated by commercials.Opportunity News Media has ties to a nonprofit that started the conservative news site Washington Free Beacon.
