Jason Day, Wife Ellie and Son Dash Celebrate 2015 PGA Championship Win

Jason Day shot a five-under 67 Sunday to win the 2015 PGA Championship with a tournament total of 20 under par. It was his first career major and the first time a golfer has ever finished 20 under par at a major championship.While his record-breaking performance was a career-changing victory, he will likely cherish the aftermath with his wife Ellie Day and son Dash more than the trophy.Joe Fleming of USA Today and Newy Scruggs of NBC Sports Radio gave fans a glimpse of the emotional moments following Days victory:From all appearances, it looked like Dash enjoyed himself even more than his champion father, per Golfweek Magazine and 120 Sports:Dash didnt have all the fun. Ellie Day actually live-tweeted some of her excitement during the final round. Luke Kerr-Dineen of USA Today captured the tweets, including these two:The emotions, nerves and excitement from the entire Day family were understandable, as Sunday represented his first major victory. In just his last 17 starts alone, six top-10 finishes, not including his two wins and missed the British Open playoff by a single stroke after failing to birdie any of the last 12 holes.That is a lot of near misses.Day survived charges from superstar Jordan Spieth, among others, at Sunday's PGA Championship and was clearly the best golfer on the course throughout the weekend. He discussed his mindset withSteve DiMeglio of USA Today:I had a lot of fun. It didn't feel like work, it felt like I was mentally and physically grinding it out as hard as I could. I wasn't going to stop fighting until it was over. I enjoyed the 18th hole when I had about a half-foot putt, so that was fantastic. It was a fantastic day for me, personally, and something I'll never forget.Day is one of the most popular golfers in the PGA, and the images of him embracing his family Sunday will do nothing to change that. Fellow golfers Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy seemed genuinely thrilled the Australian won his first major:Day apparently has the right people on his side to turn his first major win into a career filled with triumphs.
